Oversight
Management
St John's Preschool has been part of the Ashfield Community for more than 70 years.  The local community is important to us and parental participation is valued highly in our school.

The preschool is under the management of a management committee made up of 4 parent and 5 parish representatives from St John's Church, Ashfield.

All parents with children in the preschool are eligible for membership on the committee as one of the parent representatives.  Parents are also encouraged to attend the annual general meeting held at the end of term 1 each year.

Although the management committee oversee the operation of the preschool, the day to day running of the preschool is the responsibility of the director and the staff.
Philosophy
St John’s Preschool Ashfield is a Community based, Christian early learning environment which exists in a diverse community.

We aim to give our children a clear and respectful understanding of all cultures including that of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Our Preschool is located on land whose traditional owners were the Cadigal and Wangal people and we acknowledge and give respect to these original custodians.

The Preschool is run under the auspices of the St John’s Anglican Church who had the foresight to establish an early learning environment for children over 70 years ago and who continue through their role on the Management Committee to provide excellent support and direction.

Our Preschool philosophy can be found in the resources section of this website.

Do you have a 4 year old who can start school next year?

We currently have availability for children who turn 4 before 31/07/18.

.

Preschool is a great way to help prepare your child for school, or to help you decide if they are ready to start.

We offer a structured day to provide a gentle introduction to what is required of them at “big school”. Through our play based program, they will discover that learning is fun and will be ready for the next big thing : )

The children participate in group times, including news, music, languages and fundamental movement skills, as well as lots of free play and outdoor adventures. We have a beautiful big playground and the church grounds to explore!

If you’re wondering about whether this might be the right option for your child and family, please contact us on [email protected]

We run tours on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:30am and would love to show you around.
